All about Ms. H.!

Hi!  My name is Ms. Lindsey Hooker, but in class you can call me Ms. H.  This page is designed to tell you a little bit about myself, so we can start our year off right - I'm looking forward to learning about you, too!

I was born in Carbondale, Illinois, but grew up in Minneapolis, right over by the Walker Art Center.   Lindsey, age 2 - picture unavailable  This is me, age 2.  I really liked to make noise.

I attended Jefferson Elementary School, Anwatin Middle School, and South High School.  As you can see, I'm a city kid too!  I am glad to be back teaching in the district again - I really missed it while I was gone.  My favorite subject was always Reading.  I liked books about imaginary things like dragons and fairies.

I went to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota (about an hour away from home), where I studied Norwegian and Elementary Education.  Ask me to teach you some Norwegian someday!  I teach Norwegian during the summers at Skogfjorden (SKOO-fyor-den), one of the Concordia Language Villages.

Lindsey at Skogfjorden - picture unavailable  This is my first summer at camp.  I was being a monkey.

I also love to sing, so I sang in choirs all four years, and I helped build houses on my spring breaks with Habitat for Humanity.  I graduated in 2005, and did my student teaching in Indonesia the next fall.

I have a husband and two children, Laila and Leif.  Laila is seven and likes to play tea party with her stuffed animals, while Leif is four and doesn't like much except trucks!  We have a dog named Cookie, whose favorite food is popcorn, and some fish that don't have names yet.  We like to swim and go on walks as a family.

I am looking forward to this year with you!  I know we'll have a fun time.  Please come talk to me sometimes - I am excited to get to know all of you!
